Beloved Fellow Travelers of the blogosphere, come and eat. I think every human being on the planet is hungry for Love. Deep down inside we all want to be known and loved. We all carry around scars and unhealed wounds. I believe that is one of the hallmarks of being a person. Here at Disarmed by Love, I want to share the power of that Love and hear from those of you who have experienced its life-giving force.

I’m passionate about life and I have a great desire to be known and loved. The problem is I’ve believed the lie that I couldn’t have both. And Love is still doing its best to seep through the deception and bring about the truth, that indeed one can be known and loved. It will take a lifetime of coming to believe that hatred, apathy, and resentment can all be disarmed by Love and that Love can rescue a soul from despair. Most of my life, I have lived with people. It is not an easy undertaking but when Love rules home can be a place of peace, joy, and comfort.

I want this blog to be a place where you can find some ingredients for your own Love Feast. Love only happens when it is shared. It does not happen in isolation. To be alone with an unseen Loving God can be a rest, a refuge, a place to be refreshed. But the assurance of that Love comes through people who we can see, who can touch us, feed us, and in turn we can do the same for them. Love is most often found in the stream of Life in the midst of relationship.

  1. Catherine, I think we share a bit of common ground. I come from Christian roots – which I value deeply – but do not see as confining. God sneaks in wherever there is a hole. I celebrated 36 years with the same husband just a few weeks ago – and have two grown kids. My best to you.

  2. This is beautifully expressed. It’s always refreshing to see a vision of God that is about Love. Love is the most powerful force in existence. How can God not be Love?

  3. We all want and NEED love. But the struggle is how to truly LOVE others . I was so cynical about Love after my “Christian” marriage ended. But for God, He drove me into the scriptures where I learned “God IS love. ” There are more scriptures, but this is the one the Lord used to help me learn to really Love my husband: 1 John 4: 8 “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
I surrendered myself to the Lord and asked Him to love my husband (and thereafter anyone I found hard to love) THROUGH me. I said I can’t love him, but You are commanding me to be reconciled :
1 Corinthians 10-11 “To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife….”
We now say we’ve been married 40 years, on and off a year! Hallelujah! I ask God to love so many people Thru me as I did then….and He loves doing it because my love then becomes pure!
